Information collected directly

This site does not ask visitors to create an account, and it contains no login, comment field, or contact form. Searching and filtering the archive happens entirely in your browser; search terms are not transmitted to or recorded by this site.

If you choose to email the address on the Contact page, that correspondence is received and retained in the ordinary course of answering it.

Information collected automatically

Grimword is hosted on Vercel. Like most web-hosting providers, Vercel may process standard technical information when a visitor requests a page, including an IP address, browser or device information, the page requested, referring-page information, and the date and time of the request. This information is used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the Site.

Grimword also uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the Site is used. Vercel Web Analytics provides aggregated information such as page views, referring sources, approximate geographic information, browser or device categories, and pages visited. We use this information to understand site traffic and improve the archive. We do not use this information to personally identify individual visitors or to create advertising profiles.

Analytics

This site uses Vercel Web Analytics to collect anonymous aggregate statistics about page views and visitor behavior. The data collected includes page URLs visited, referrer information, device type, and geographic region (country-level only). No personally identifiable information is collected. Cookies and local storage

Grimword does not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or cookies designed to identify visitors across other websites. Vercel Web Analytics is designed to measure site traffic without using third-party cookies.

The Site may store a light or dark display preference in your browser’s local storage when you use the theme-switching control. This preference is stored locally on your device so that the Site can remember your selected appearance on future visits. It is not used to identify you, track your activity across websites, or create an advertising profile.

You can remove locally stored preferences at any time by clearing your browser’s site data or local storage for grimword.com. Doing so may reset the Site’s appearance preference to its default setting.

Third-party resources

Typefaces are loaded from third-party font services, and entries link out to external libraries, archives, and digitised editions. Loading a font or following an outbound link means your browser contacts that provider directly, and their own practices and policies govern what they record. This site has no control over and takes no responsibility for those services.

Children

Given its subject matter, this archive is intended for an adult scholarly and literary readership and is not directed at children.
